Stowmarket Reporter is an independent news site, set-up and maintained by Chris J. Kenworthy – an NCTJ-trained journalist based in Suffolk, UK.
Originally called Suffolk Reporter, Chris created the site as an online portfolio – to display all the stories he wrote while studying the NCTJ Diploma at Harlow College, Essex.
Primarily, his news stories cover the areas of Stowmarket and Mid-Suffolk; but, stories from around the wider areas of Suffolk, East Anglia and the World are also featured.
As this site doubles as an online portfolio of his work, the book reviews Chris writes for Armadillo magazine can also be found here, under Reviews.
From Suffolk Reporter to Stowmarket Reporter
Christopher originally set up ‘Suffolk Reporter‘ as an online portfolio of the stories he wrote for his NCTJ course at Harlow College.
While some of those stories covered events in Harlow (Essex), most of them were about Suffolk. Over time, it became clear that these stories were largely hyperlocal to Stowmarket.
Therefore, the site title needed to change – and although the Suffolk Reporter name was still much loved by its creator, Stowmarket Reporter fulfilled this task as it more accurately reflected the location of published content on the site.

As well as his work for Stowmarket Reporter, in his spare time Chris is also a keen photographer, poet and short story writer.
